Scratchers, 1835-1840.

The scratchers are a daily record of all of the financial transactions that were recorded before they were transcribed into the deposit or check books. The scratchers can be cross-referenced to the deposit and checkbooks by cross referencing the dates. Included are names of individuals, firms, companies, Branch Banks, or out-of-state banks that are depositing or withdrawing money, the amount deposited or withdrawn, and the amount brought forward. This series is also referred to as blotters and daybooks.
